The daily rep
The lifecycle of one rep
What happens between the scheduled post and the close: every step, what each person sees, and what stays private.
- Scheduled post. At the time you set, the Atomic Reps app posts one multiple-choice question into your chosen channel.
- A member answers. Anyone in the channel taps one option. That is the whole interaction: one click, no thread reply, no form.
- An ephemeral verdict. Atomic Reps replies at once with whether they were right and a short explanation of why, as an ephemeral message only they can see. No one else in the channel sees their answer or the verdict.
- The rep closes. At the hour you set, the question stops taking answers. The buttons come off, and the question stays in the channel as a record of what was asked. Atomic Reps posts nothing about who answered or how they did. No count, no accuracy, no ranking.
What the channel and admins can see
The channel never sees who answered what, and Atomic Reps posts nothing there that comes from anybody's answers. Only the member who earned them sees their own answers, accuracy and streaks. Admins never see an individual's answers, accuracy or skill signal, on any plan. There is no setting for it, because there is no such view to switch on. The Privacy Policy states the same rule.
Direct-message delivery
A workspace can deliver the daily question as a direct message instead of a channel post. The loop is identical: the question arrives in a DM, the member taps an answer, and the ephemeral verdict comes back in the same DM. Because DM delivery uses the im:write scope, any member can turn it off at any time with /reps mute and back on with /reps unmute. Muting DMs never affects channel posts.
One record, wherever you answer
Atomic Reps links a Slack identity to a workspace member by email match, with no manual mapping. On Team, an answer counts toward the same streak and skill record whether it was submitted in Slack or on the web. On Free, nobody in your workspace sees who answered what, and your personal streak is on the web at /daily. For the exact fields this involves and where they are stored, see data flows.
The web daily rep
The same loop runs on the web at /daily, no Slack required:
- Question #1 needs no account. Every anonymous visitor sees the same question on a given day, graded with the explanation.
- Question #2 asks you to sign in. A free account gets three reps a day at difficulty levels 1-2, picked for you. That budget is shared across the daily and the journal. Pro removes the cap and opens every level. The cap counts answers, never page loads.
The rep by email
You can have the question of the day emailed to you. Two rules apply to the emails:
- Cadence is a forced choice. Daily, Mon/Wed/Fri, or weekly. The picker has no preselected option, and signing up needs an explicit consent checkbox. Signing up by email alone also needs a confirmation click in your inbox before anything sends.
- We stop mailing people who stop answering. After roughly a month of unanswered questions the cadence drops to weekly, and after another month of silence the emails stop entirely. Answering any question resets this immediately. The full unsubscribe mechanics are on data flows.
